Flygande Jakob (English: Flying Jacob) is a Swedish casserole based on chicken with bananas, peanuts and bacon and cooked in the oven. The dish was invented by Ove Jacobsson who worked in the air freight industry, hence the name. One night daddy Jacobsson had to cook since wifey was away, and all he had in the fridge was cream, bananas, ketchup and chicken. That's probably exactly how it happened.   Since MY wifey is not around, I decided to try this out. With some minor improvisation       Some healthy ingredients that go into this dish       Healthy grilled chicken, of course       Some questionable ingredients that also go into the dish       Sauteed chopped garlic, mushroom, bacon & carrots       Laid the chicken in a oven dish. Allowed some gaps between the pieces so the sauce can get through.       Poured sauteed mushrooms, b...

Baby & Birthday

Last year, I got this...       This year, despite lack of sleep, occupied with taking care of the baby while I was at work, I get this...     ...and Gordon Ramsay's Beef Wellington..done!       Erika is adjusting well to world outside mummy's womb. In the beginning, she's either sleeping, feeding or screaming. Now, there're times when she's awake but calm, moving her limbs, stretching, look around, cooing. Rush to baby at the slightest sound or stir. Accuse her husband of "torture" just because he suggested leaving the baby alone for a while (she's not crying anyway!)       What is more worrying? That the baby can fit inside the oven, or that the mother is thinking about fitting th...

Wife and I went to Paris last week.   This morning, after going through all the photos we took during the trip, she made a remark.   "Oh no, we're going to be like prisoner with the baby after this"   I immediately stopped her from making further negative comments. I said we shouldn't feel that way. It all depends on our attitude. Having a baby shouldn't feel like being in prison. We should look at it as another pleasant experience, like owning a dream bike.   Sure, the bike leaks oil, refuse to start some mornings, the exhaust pipe sounds too loud or emits unpleasant smell, and it's not so fun riding in the tropical heat or rain. It's painful, embarrasing and heavy to lift when I drop the bike on the road. Sure, I constantly need to feed petrol to it, scrub and wash off dirts, generally spending lots of time, money and energy maintaining it, but it's all part of the wonderful experience of owning it. It's so cool to have so mu...
