IKEA & Riskokare

Image
Today we've decided to go to IKEA! muahahahahaha Waiting for bus.             First thing first, food.       Then, more food! IKEA staff preparing meatballs for all shoppers       After food, shopping!       Here we see a self check-out lane. You scan the things you want to buy, then pay for it by credit card. I don't think this will work back home. Asians will scan probably 1 out of the 5 things they took, then try to get away not paying for the rest.       She has a fetish for supermarket. So brought her to one of the biggest around, ICA Kvantum, and set her free.         Pony for ride.       Bought home a rice cooker today, at her insistance.   I've been living without one for the past 2 months. I've never seen a piece of electrical appliance gives out so m...

Sunny Stockholm

Image
It was a busy week for me. I've been working late almost everyday, which annoys me since my wife is home alone and I can't spend time with her or bring her out. Whoever says working in western country is easier, has never worked in a western country. Either that, or they're not working in Accenture. It was so bad, I had to work on Saturday too. I also have Swedish class in the morning. So, after spending 3 hours twisting my tongue and lips trying to sound Swedish, I had to rush to project site to continue my work. The only consolation is when my class ended, it was sunny and everything seems calm and beautiful. I have to start recognizing things in Swedish. My wife pointed out amusingly that I'm practically back to "kindergarten" or "pre-school" again. After learning the basic of constructing a sentence, I now know Yoda is Swedish.     Clear blue skies, the sun shining brightly on old buildings, casting shadows everywhere, people...

Yen Can Cook 080219 - Mee Hoon Kueh

Image
My wife wants to cook something I like but she needs proper equipment. So I bought her a big cooking pot for.....mee hoon kueh! This is the ultimate. Cold weather, and something soupy.             She's happy to cook.     I'm happy to eat!           A bit too happy, maybe.       Our candle-lit dinner.

Hunnie in Stockholm

Image
After celibating for more than 2 months, my wife arrives in Stockholm to bring me out of monkhood. Now she can starts to experience the things I described to her all this while. We can now explore Sweden together. I've not been going into museums, galleries, and other places that require entrance fee to avoid paying twice. Now that she's here, I can now finally pretend to appreciate art, see the much-talked about garments (or lack thereof) of viking women and other artefacts from centuries ago, and see the advancement of Volvo from producing ball-bearings in its beginning, to making one of the world's safest and toughest car today, or how Alfred Nobel goes from creating dynamite, to helping Sweden to be one of the world's major manufacturer of weapons used in conflicts all over the world while proclaiming to be neutral in every major world wars. He may be gone, but his companies are still producing armaments while his foundation continues to award Nobel Peace Prize ever...
