Accenture in Stockholm

First day at work today. First time wear suits to work. First time had to put on so many layers of clothes before leaving the house. And I'm still cold!

Accenture office in Stockholm is located at Hötorget. I finally met Helena, the lady who's been helping with my transfer. I was given my security access card, a laptop, and a handphone. Yes, a handphone. Hehehe. According to Helena, the company will pay for the usage. My first question was, what about overseas call? Helena said the company will pay for all usage, even for international calls. But she advised me not to make too many personal overseas calls, otherwise the company may start to scrutinise my bill and take away this privilege. Afterall, the primary usage should be for work. I think a call or few SMS-es to my dearest sweetest loveliest Sharon (yes, I miss her THAT much) once in a while is okay. I still can webcam chat with her using the laptop. The company also provided me with a 3G modem. This thing, allows me to access the internet anywhere from within Sweden! Coolness.

Now, I just need to set up my mobile phone, my laptop and the 3G modem. When I switch on my phone, I see Swedish words. Luckily it is a Sony Ericsson, I remember roughly the part at the setup wizard to switch language since my mobile phone in Singapore is also a Sony Ericsson. When I power on my laptop, the Windows logon screen is also in Swedish!

Accenture office occupies part of this building at Sveavägen 25.

A view around the office.

Do they buy all their furnitures from IKEA? I wonder.....
Notice it's dark outside? Not because I worked late. The sunrise is late and sunset is early in Sweden during Winter. 3pm, and it's completely dark.

This is the keyboard of my laptop. The layout is different. Additional characters. Position of some keys are different. No dollar sign. I've been struggling in my typing these past few days. The "backspace" has been used, a lot. Even the warning sticker is in Swedish.

This is what I had for lunch today. A Swedish dish.
Färsbiff med grönpeppersås och potatisgratäng
Rough translation: Steak made of minced meat, green peppercorn sauce and potatoes au gratin

Yes dear, it's rich and fattening. That's why I skipped dinner.... :p
